The Awdal people lost their freedom in 1884 and yet didn’t regain it. Today Awdalians are beggars in their own land and Awdal’s pristine landscape and its primitive infrastructure are testimony to the oppression and subjugation meted out against this unfortunate province of the Somali Republic. This new website will disseminate the glorious history of Awdal and will narrate its present pitiful state. It is our intention to promote democracy, rule of law, justice, and to create, using peaceful means and the support of the international community, a Republic that we hope will become the pride of humanity. It will be an open forum where Awdalians and friends of Awdal exchange ideas and work together toward a more humane and prosperous Awdal.
